about

thekampong is excited to invite you to the closing lecture for our second season of the Symbiotic House Lecture Series, featuring Lee Pivnik eelpicnic, who helped launch this program focused on ecological mutualism. The evening will begin with a preview of Tidepool, a permanent public artwork and bioremediation sculpture that is Pivnik’s largest and most complex project to date. Built on site with limestone sourced from the garden and embellished with countless shells, the biomorphic conch-inspired fountain is designed to filter and oxygenate water from Biscayne Bay, and grow a vermiponic garden at its core. Tidepool is Pivnik’s first “living system” sculpture and marks a transformative point in his practice towards longer term, site-specific projects that serve as tools for climate care and environmental repair. His lecture will focus on the web of influences that informed the construction of Tidepool, offering attendees a deeper look into his process and thinking.
